Rojak Buah

This dish is commonly found in Malaysia and her neighbouring countries with some slight variations to the sauce. But essentially this a dish of mixed fresh fruits and a delicious sauce of sweet black fermented shrimp paste with a hint of spiciness. Reduce the amount of sugar and it’s tasty and pretty healthy too.

Ingredients

 Fruits & Vegetables :
1 Starfruit
½ Cucumber
1 Mango
½ Papaya
½ Sengkuang
⅓ Pineapple
 Paste Ingredients
1 Red Chili (Big)
4 Cili Padi (add or reduce according to preference)
1 tsp Salt
150 g Palm Sugar
1 tbsp Petis Udang
1 tsp  Tamarind Paste
¼ cup Water
1 tsp Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Cut all the vegetables and fruits
  2. Pound all the paste ingredients together in a pestle & mortar, gradually adding them in one at a time. (Put in some elbow grease!)
  3. Pour rojak sauce on the cut fruits and vegetables, and it’s ready to eat. Enjoy!
