Nasi Daging is a delicious and easy 1 pot recipe great for family gatherings!

Nasi Daging would not be complete without some Air Asam to accompany it. This tangy and spicy sauce is also great to have with anything grilled, baked or fried too. Simple and super #sedap.

Ingredients

 NASI DAGING INGREDIENTS:
 400g Beef (boiled with 1 tsp salt & 1” ginger)
 4 cups Rice (pre-washed)
 4 cups Water
 Spices : 1 Cinnamon stick, 1 Star Anise, 3 Cardamom, 3 Cloves 2 tbsp Cooking Oil (or ghee)
 1 clove Garlic
 1 big Onion
 2 tbsp Kurma Powder
 1 cube Beef Stock
 ½ tsp Pepper
  ½ tsp Sugar (*Optional)
 1 cup Evaporated Milk
 1 Pandan Leaf
 1 Big Tomato
 2 stalks Coriander
 AIR ASAM Ingredients :
 1 tbsp Tamarind Paste (with water)
 1 Big Red Chilli
 3 Chilli Padi
 1 Small Red Onions
 1 Big Tomato
 ½ inch Belacan (*Optional)
 3 stalks Laksa Leaves (Daun Kesum)
 ½ tsp Sugar
 ½ tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. Making Nasi Daging: 1. Boil the beef in a pot with water, ginger slices and salt for 30 mins,then set aside. 2. Heat some oil in a rice cooker, add in all the spices, onions and garlic then allow it to cook until it's fragrant. Then add in the Kurma powder, stock pepper, evaporated milk, pandan leaf, tomato and sugar*. 3. Finally add in all the beef broth, the beef and rice, then close the lid to cook the rice as normal.   2. Making Air Asam: Blend the chillies, onions, belacan with ½ cup water. Mix together the tamarind past, cubed tomatoes, belacan (lightly dry-fried), laksa leaves, sugar, salt, and some water Add in the blended mix and stir well.
