Bubur Kacang Merah

This is a versatile dessert that can be eaten both hot or cold. Our recipe is really simple and Sedap, but it requires time for preparation as you need to soak the red beans for 6 hours or overnight. So you’ll need to do some planning, but remember that all good (and yummy) things come to those who wait!

Ingredients

200g Kacang Merah
1L Water
200ml Coconut Milk
½ cup White Sugar
125g Gula Melaka
2 Pandan Leaves
½ tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. Pre-soak the beans in water for 6-7 hours. If you want them to be more tender, soak overnight.
  2. Drain the beans, then boil them in a pot of clean water for about 30 minutes.
  3. Add the Gula Melaka, sugar and pandan leaves into the pot and stir until the sugar has completely melted.
  4. Finally add the coconut milk, stir again and cook for another 10 minutes.
